High blood pressure (hypertension) rarely has symptoms, so the only way to know your numbers is to have them checked. Through the NHS Blood Pressure Check service our team can measure your blood pressure and explain what your reading means. If needed, we can arrange a 24-hour ambulatory monitor or refer you to your GP.

Available free of charge for adults aged 40 and over who have not already been diagnosed with high blood pressure. Younger adults may be eligible if there is a clinical reason, just ask our team.

Your reading
We'll take your blood pressure in our private consultation room and explain the result.
Next steps
If your reading is high we may offer further monitoring or refer you to your GP, with your consent.
As a general guide, an ideal blood pressure is usually considered to be between 90/60mmHg and 120/80mmHg. Our pharmacist will explain what your individual reading means.
Try to avoid caffeine, smoking and exercise in the 30 minutes before your check, and rest for a few minutes beforehand if you can.
