Shingles is an infection caused by the chickenpox virus. It usually causes a painful rash, often as a band on one side of the body, which can be preceded by tingling or burning. Starting treatment early can help. Our pharmacist can assess your symptoms and, where appropriate, supply treatment.
Available for adults aged 18 years and over. Our pharmacist will assess your symptoms to confirm whether treatment is suitable.

Keep the rash clean and dry, wear loose clothing, and avoid contact with people who have not had chickenpox, pregnant people and those with weakened immune systems until the rash has scabbed over.

The consultation is free on the NHS. Where treatment is supplied, normal NHS prescription charges and exemptions apply.
